MicroSurvey FieldGenius supports NTRIP corrections natively on both Android and Windows. This guide walks you through connecting to any NTRIP correction service — step by step, for both platforms.

Before you start

Make sure you have the following ready:

Requirements

  • MicroSurvey FieldGenius for Android or Windows (latest version)

  • A compatible GNSS receiver connected via Bluetooth or cable

  • NTRIP credentials: host, port, mountpoint, username and password

  • A mobile data or Wi-Fi connection on the device

  • A clear sky view for the receiver (15° elevation mask minimum)

Which version do you have?

FieldGenius Android (FGA) is the current version for most new users. FieldGenius Windows uses slightly different menus. Both are covered below.

FieldGenius for Android

  1. Create or open a project

Launch FieldGenius and tap New Project, or open an existing project. Set the coordinate system and distance units before connecting the receiver.

  2. Connect your receiver

Select Instrument → Add Profile, choose your receiver make and model (for example, Emlid RS3 or Generic NMEA), then name the profile and tap Create.

Under Communication, select Bluetooth and pair the receiver. Once connected, confirm that the satellite count and PDOP are updating.

  3. Configure RTK via Internet

Open instrument settings and select Set Up Corrections → RTK via Internet.

Tap Set Up Internet, then choose Data Collector as the internet source.

  4. Add an NTRIP source

Select Set Up Data Source → Add New Source. Enter the credentials from your NTRIP service:

    Addressntrip.your-service.com
    Port2101
    MountpointRTCM3_XX (choose from sourcetable)
    Usernameyour-username
    Passwordyour-password

Tap Get Source Table, then choose the correct mountpoint from the list.

  5. Set antenna height and connect

Set the Antenna Height from the ground to the bottom of the receiver. FieldGenius adds the correct antenna offset for the selected receiver profile.

Tap Connect. The NTRIP stream starts immediately.

  6. Verify your RTK solution

The solution progresses from Single to DGPS or Float, then to Fixed. In good conditions, a fix normally takes 10–60 seconds.

You are ready to work once the status shows RTK Fixed.

Fix confirmed

When the status shows RTK Fixed, your receiver is working at centimetre level. Open Link Information and check that the data counter is increasing to confirm corrections are flowing.

FieldGenius for Windows

The Windows version uses a slightly different menu path.

  1. Connect the instrument and establish a reference

Start FieldGenius and connect your receiver as usual. If you are using a rover with NTRIP, skip the base setup and continue to Link Configure.

  2. Open Link Configure

Go to Instrument Settings → Link Configure.

Set Link Device to Data Collector Internet. Click Setup, then Press to Modify.

  3. Add the NTRIP caster

In the NTRIP Casters dialog, add the server address, port, username and password. Click Get Mountpoints, then select the correct mountpoint.

  4. Set the data format and connect

Set Data Format to RTCM3, then click Connect. The bytes received counter in Link Information should begin increasing.

NTRIP credentials reference

FieldGenius needs five pieces of information. For RTKsub, use:

Host / Addressntrip.rtksub.com
Port2101
Mountpoint — most receiversRTCM3_NL
Mountpoint — long baseline (>30 km)RTCM3_NL_VRS
Mountpoint — high-end survey gradeRTCM3_NL_MSM7
Username / Passwordyour RTKsub credentials

Enable GGA for VRS mountpoints

If you use a VRS mountpoint, enable Send GGA to caster or Transmit NMEA GGA. Without GGA, the server does not know your position and cannot generate local corrections.

Troubleshooting

Emlid receivers and FieldGenius on Windows

For Emlid receivers on Windows, configure NTRIP in Emlid Flow (ReachView) first, then connect FieldGenius. FieldGenius for Windows does not directly control Emlid NTRIP — the receiver handles the NTRIP connection independently and sends the corrected position through Bluetooth or serial.
